The skin is cooled sufficiently using nitrogen vapor (LN2) to provoke the vasoconstriction of blood vessels, which is then followed by rapid vasodilation post treatment, Cryo stimulation activates the body's optimum defense mechanism. During the short session only the skin is cooled superficially and the body responds by raising it's internal temperature through increased rates of micro-circulations across the treatment area. The metabolic surge continues for over 4 hours after each procedure. Local Cryo stimulation is often used for pain relief, post surgery recovery and injury rehabilitation. Pain relieving effects of Cryo stimulation can last for 3 - 4 days. Cryo stimulation is applied to increase the rate
of healing in order to reduce injury timeframes alongside other modalities at Chiropractic Plus such as Remedial Massage and Chiropractic treatments.

Low Level Laser Therapy involves the application of a low-power laser to the surface of the body to stimulate cellular function and promote healing, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain. During a session of cold laser therapy, a precisely focused beam of light emanates from the laser device, permeating the skin to reach the underlying tissues. This stream of photon energy stimulates cellular activity and initiates biochemical processes within the cells, fostering tissue repair, reducing inflammation and providing analgesic effects. This photon energy augments cellular metabolism, enhances circulation, and triggers the release of bioactive substances that facilitate the intricate healing mechanisms.

Whole-body cryotherapy involves exposing the top layers of your skin to air vapour chilled to below -120°C for 2-3 minutes.

The short term super-cooling of your skin’s surface triggers your thermoreceptors to send signals to the brain making you think you are freezing. This sends your body into a defensive mode by quickly transporting the body’s blood, nutrients, and resources to the organs in the body’s core. During the whole-body cryotherapy session, blood will rush first to the core and will rev up metabolism to create heat. Afterwards, blood returns to the extremities more oxygenated and carries newly released neurotransmitters that can dramatically lower inflammation, increase collagen levels, provide chronic pain relief, and boost mood. Other benefits include anti-ageing and fat loss, accelerated recovery, and increased focus among many other positive effects.

Cryo facials are the latest technology advancement for natural and non-invasive face treatments, which uses a controlled stream of cold vapor. This treatment is recommended for:

Decreasing wrinkles and lines Stimulating collagen production Improving blood flow Pore refinement Soothing of eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis To achieve these results, our therapists use a special wand to gently direct chilled air vapour over the skin, which is cooled to a temperature below freezing very quickly and tightens in response.

This tightening is called vasoconstriction, and helps to dilate capillaries and blood vessels. The process triggers our bodies to send the building blocks of change to affected areas.

It is important to know that applying an ice pack or trying to cool your skin quickly at home can damage your skin. Our cryo facials help you achieve a younger look and feel by stimulating your body’s natural processes with careful and controlled techniques.

Low Level Laser therapy is said to work through a photochemical effect (which also occurs with photosynthesis in plants). When cells inside tissue are stressed due to disease and injury, the mitochondria (or powerhouse/place where metabolism takes place inside a cell) produces harmful nitric oxide. The nitric oxide replaces needed oxygen from cells thus causing inflammation or cell death. When tissues absorb the photons from Low Level Laser therapy, the nitic oxide is dissociated (or irreversibly split) allowing more oxygen back into the cells and therefore increasing tissue oxygenation. Via this mechanism, cell metabolism and mitochondria function is restored allowing the cell to maintain a health state. The absorption of the light is also said to increase cell proliferation and migration (regeneration) and to moderate levels of growth factors and inflammatory mediators.

Clairemarie is an experienced chiropractor with an extensive nursing background.

She utilises a range of techniques including Thompson (drop piece), Activator and Diversified (manual adjustments), soft tissue techniques and dry needling making her treatments comfortable and suitable for all ages from pregnancy, babies to grandparents. She incorporates input from other health professionals in co-managing patient care to achieve her patient’s goals and the best results for her patient’s.

Her interest in chiropractic was ignited when she worked as an Athlete Care Nurse at the Sydney Olympic Games. Here, Clairemarie worked alongside Chiropractors treating the world’s best athletes ensuring peak performance and saw how much these elite athletes sought out and appreciated Chiropractic care.

She had previously thought that Chiropractic was for back pain and if you didn’t have any back pain, you didn’t need to see a Chiropractor – unfortunately quite a common misconception which we hear a lot!

Intrigued to learn more about Chiropractic, Clairemarie herself commenced care. Liking what she saw and how amazing she felt under care, Clairemarie went onto study Chiropractic at Murdoch University in WA.

Being a long-distance runner from a young age and going through some health issues, Clairemarie realised the importance of listening to the body and keeping healthy. She reversed Type II Diabetes with the help of a naturopath and is very passionate about lifestyle related conditions which can be improved with some changes in daily habits.

Clairemarie sees Chiropractic as part of the “bigger picture” of health and is just as important as healthy eating, exercise, plenty of sleep and having fun! Chiropractic allows you to reach your true potential naturally, just like the elite athletes competing at the highest levels.

Outside of work Clairemarie and husband Craig enjoy the outdoor lifestyle Australia has to offer, especially walking with their dog, camping and sailing. They are both passionate about rugby union, supporting The Western Force and international teams. Clairemarie still runs, although no longer competitively.
